CSIR – Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute (CMERI), Durgapur, a premier national laboratory under the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), has released Advertisement No. 11/2025 inviting online applications for the post of Technician-I (Group-II). The recruitment aims to fill 20 regular vacancies across multiple technical trades at Durgapur (West Bengal) and its Centre of Excellence for Farm Machinery, Ludhiana (Punjab).

Trade-wise Vacancies & Qualification

1. Fitter – 08 Posts
Essential Qualification:

• SSC/10th with Science (minimum 55%) + ITI / Trade Certificate in Fitter
  OR

• SSC/10th with Science (55%) + 2 years apprentice training
  OR

• SSC/10th with Science (55%) + 3 years relevant work experience
  Desirable: Ability to read technical drawings, fitting & assembly skills, basic AutoCAD, computer knowledge, field work capability.

2. Electrician / Mechanic (Electrical Power Drives) – 05 Posts
Essential Qualification:

• SSC/10th with Science (55%) + ITI / Trade Certificate in Electrician / Mechanic (Electrical Power Drives)
  OR equivalent apprenticeship / experience as prescribed.
  Desirable: Electrical wiring, motors (1-phase & 3-phase), drives, fault diagnosis, electrical safety knowledge.

3. Electronics Mechanic / Instrument Mechanic – 06 Posts
Essential Qualification:

• SSC/10th with Science (55%) + ITI / Trade Certificate in Electronics / Instrument Mechanic
  OR equivalent apprenticeship / experience.
  Desirable: PCB work, soldering, electronic troubleshooting, embedded systems, sensors, basic programming.

4. Digital Photography – 01 Post
Essential Qualification:

• SSC/10th with Science (55%) + ITI / Trade Certificate in Digital Photography
  OR equivalent apprenticeship / experience.
  Desirable: Digital photography & videography, Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro, After Effects, InDesign, computer proficiency.

Pay Scale & Benefits

• Pay Level: Level-2 (7th CPC)

• Pay Band: Rs. 19,900 – Rs. 63,200

• Approx. Monthly Emoluments: Rs. 37,000

• Additional Benefits:
  DA, HRA, TA, Medical reimbursement, LTC, CSIR accommodation (subject to availability), and coverage under National Pension System (NPS).

Age Limit (as on 21 January 2026)

• Minimum Age: 18 years

• Maximum Age: 28 years

Age Relaxation (as per GoI / CSIR rules):

• SC/ST – 5 years

• OBC (NCL) – 3 years

• PwBD – up to 15 years (category-wise)

• Widows / Divorced / Judicially separated women – up to 35 years (40 years for SC/ST)

• Ex-Servicemen & departmental candidates – as applicable

Selection Process

2. Trade Test (Qualifying in nature)

3. Competitive Written Examination

Written Exam Pattern:

• Mode: OMR / Computer-Based Test

• Total Questions: 150

• Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes

Paper-I: Mental Ability (No negative marking)
Paper-II: General Awareness & English (Negative marking applicable)
Paper-III: Concerned Trade Subject (Negative marking applicable)

Final merit will be prepared only on Paper-II & Paper-III marks.
