GAIL Recruitment 2025 — Special Recruitment Drive (SRD) for SC / ST / OBC (NCL) & PwBD candidates
(All-India openings | Multiple technical & non-technical senior posts | Apply online)
Quick summary (paste-ready): GAIL (India) Limited has launched a Special Recruitment Drive to fill backlog vacancies across senior technical and non-technical roles — Chief Manager (Law), Senior Officer / Senior Engineer grades (E-1, E-2, E-5) and other posts. The drive is targeted at SC / ST / OBC (NCL) and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) candidates. Online registration is open from 24 Nov 2025 (11:00 hrs) and closes on 23 Dec 2025 (18:00 hrs). Read eligibility carefully before applying.
Why this SRD matters
-
It’s a focused backlog drive — several senior-level posts (E-5, E-2, E-1) across GAIL’s business: operations, projects, marketing, HR, law, BIS, GAILTEL, medical services, fire & safety, contracts & procurement and more. This is a good chance for reserved-category and PwBD applicants to compete for mid-to-senior career roles with a Maharatna PSU.
Vacancy snapshot
-
Total backlog vacancies advertised: 29 (15 vacancies reserved under SC/ST/OBC(NCL) table + 14 vacancies reserved specifically for PwBD categories). Posts include: Chief Manager (Law), Senior Officer (F&A, F&S, BIS, Marketing, HR, Law, Medical), Senior Engineer (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, GAILTEL, Civil, Environmental, Boiler Ops), Officer (Official Language), Senior Officer (Contracts & Procurement) and others.
Key eligibility — what GAIL requires
-
Nationality: Indian nationals only.
-
Educational qualification: Post(s) specify essential qualifications — engineering degrees (BE / BTech / BSc Engg) with minimum percentages for technical posts; law degrees for legal posts; MBBS for medical; MBA/PGDM for certain roles. Wherever CGPA/grades are awarded, equivalent percentage must be declared and documentary proof produced at document verification. Check the post-wise table for exact %/degree requirements.
-
Experience: Most positions require minimum 1 year post-qualification executive experience (GET/ET/MT experience counted) in relevant functions; Chief Manager (Law) requires substantially higher experience (detailed in the advertisement). Experience cut-off is reckoned as on 23.12.2025. Only direct/fixed-term employment counts; contract/agency-deployed experience is not considered. Proof of experience must be produced in specified formats.
-
Age limits & relaxations: Upper age limits are post-specific and inclusive of relaxations for SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/PwBD/Ex-servicemen as specified in the post table; upper age is reckoned as on 23.12.2025. Maximum permissible age (after all relaxations) will not exceed 56 years.
Pay, perks & probation
-
Pay scales: E-5 — Rs. 90,000 - 2,40,000 (initial basic Rs. 90,000); E-2 — Rs. 60,000 - 1,80,000 (initial basic Rs. 60,000); E-1 — Rs. 50,000 - 1,60,000 (initial basic Rs. 50,000). Selected candidates will be on one-year probation.
-
Other benefits: Variable Dearness Allowance, cafeteria of perks & allowances, medical, group insurance, HRA/company accommodation, conveyance/advances, contributory provident fund, gratuity and other benefits as per company rules. Pay-protection rules apply for qualifying candidates from PSUs/government at E-5 grade subject to CTC comparison.
Selection process — what to expect
-
Stages: Depending on the post and the number of applicants, GAIL may adopt single- or multi-stage selection processes. Typical components: Group Discussion (GD), Interview, Skill/Proficiency tests (for Official Language — translation skill test), Physical Endurance Test (PET) for Fire & Safety, and written/case-study exercises for some PwBD categories or Medical Services posts. Minimum qualifying marks vary by category and stage (e.g., interview qualifying marks generally 60% for UR/OBC/EWS, 55% for SC/ST, 50% for PwBD). GAIL may short-list by raising eligibility if applications are large.
Application fee & important dates
-
Fee: Rs. 200 (non-refundable) for OBC (NCL) candidates only. SC / ST / PwBD candidates are exempt (subject to submission of valid certificates at document verification). Payment modes include cards, net banking, UPI, wallets.
-
Apply online only at: (Careers / Recruitment portal), provided below.
-
Application window: 24 Nov 2025 (11:00 hrs) → 23 Dec 2025 (18:00 hrs).

PwBD & reservation specifics — short notes
-
Posts in Table I-A and I-B identify which benchmark disabilities are suitable for each post. PwBD candidates whose impairment is ≥40% and who belong to the notified categories can apply; PwBD applicants may be considered under the reserved PwBD vacancies (Table I-B) or under SC/ST/OBC (if applicable) as per rules. GAIL may interchange among PwBD categories if no suitable PwBD candidate is available for a specific sub-category. Always produce the prescribed PwBD certificate at the time of selection.
Practical tips
-
Read post-wise Table-II carefully — it lists exact qualifications, experience and upper age limits for each post. Some posts (e.g., Boiler Operations) require statutory proficiency certificates.
-
Experience documentation is strict — follow the specified list (experience letter + any two supporting documents). Missing or incomplete proof can lead to rejection.
-
Save the application sequence number after submission; GAIL communicates by email — keep the registered email active for at least 1 year. If you don’t hear back within 120 days of the advertisement, you can assume you weren’t shortlisted.
